DIY Closet Makeover with Lilac Lane by Valspar

As soon as we moved into our current home, I knew I wanted to give all the closets a makeover.
So, we decided to tackle the twins closet first since they share a room and we need to maximize their space as much as possible.

After coming up with the design (see below), I instantly knew I wanted to paint it something other than white so I headed straight to Lowe’s.

Valspar recently released their 2022 Colors of the Year which include a collection of 12 colors that are trend worthy, forward thinking and beautifully livable. And I especially love how you can use them to easily freshen up any space in the home to fit your style and desire for solace, comfort and positivity.

This year’s color trends are natural shades that evoke warmth, calm and comfort. I was immediately drawn to the color, Lilac Lane (1002-4B), an uplifting and restorative shade, that brings a sense of calm and optimism to any room or space. In my opinion, it ‘s the perfect shade for my girls’ closet.

I decided to go with Valspar Reserve Interior Paint & primer since it’s the most durable, long lasting and fade resistant paint they make and I was super glad I did. The coverage was really good like “cover black in one coat” good! We actually used some repurposed wood from a project that had been painted black previously and one coat really covered it (I still did at least 2 coats
though.)

This was a pretty simple DIY project. We used a 24 inch wide cabinet base and just added wood to it.

There are 4 hanging areas for clothes and a few open storage areas. I wanted to make it extra girly so I added the mirror in the center. I also decided to bring a little more of the Lilac Lane color in by painting the baseboards inside closet as well as painting scallops on the top and bottom on the inside of both closet doors. I just love adding small touches to my projects that make a big impact. Between the color and those final touches, I was beyond happy with how it turned out and my girls LOVEDDDD it! They couldn’t stop talking about how pretty the color was and how perfect their new closet is!
