Last week, I was a guest on Positively Philly showcasing how to repurpose old shipping boxes. They can easily be upcycled into things like the base of a flower arrangement or even a storage container. Today I’m showing you how I turned an old cardboard box into this DIY flower arrangement for fall. You may also love this Easy DIY Planter Box.
Why you’ll love this project
- Saves Money: If I went out and bought a new base for all of my DIY flower arrangement ideas, I would be spending a lot of money. Upcycling the shipping boxes I already have in my house saves me money.
- Quick and Easy: This DIY fall floral arrangement consists of just a few materials that you probably already have in your house. This Storybook Backdrop Party Prop is another really easy DIY project you could try.

Why I’m doing this project
I really wanted to do a few posts on how you can upcycle the cardboard boxes in your home. I know I have so many, and I know others do too. So instead of throwing them away or recycling them, I thought it would be fun to find ways of upcycling them and using them for DIY projects.

Tips
- Make sure you use fabric that’s pliable/bends easily. Don’t use fabric thats too thick because it may be difficult for the spray glue to hold it down.
FAQ
What are some other ways I can upcycle cardboard boxes?
Instead of covering them with fabric, use peel & stick wallpaper. You can also decoupage the box. If you don’t want to make a flower arrangement, try using them to create more storage in your home for books or magazines, or to organize kitchen utensils in deep drawers.
Could I use fresh flowers in this arrangement?
Yes, but you would have to put your flowers in a container with water or wet foam that won’t leak before sitting it in box.
