How to Make Slushies with a Ninja Slushi Maker

July 3, 2025

What if you didn’t have to drive to Sonic every time your child wanted a slushie?  I’m here to tell you that you don’t have to!  I am going to show you how to make slushies with a Ninja Slushi Maker! I discovered the Ninja Slushi Maker a few months ago and even built a whole slushie cart around it because I loved it so much!  Now I want to show you just how simple it is to make slushies at home with this ingenious machine!

Why you’ll love these DIY slushies

  • Family Favorite:  This has become a family favorite because I can choose a slushie recipe for the day and the kids can get more whenever they want because it holds plenty.
  • Easy To Use:  I was amazed at how easy the homemade slushies were to make.  You just add the juice and hit start!  Nothing to it.
  • Saves money in the long run:  Depending on the age of your kids, you could be spending thousands in slushies alone by the time they are in high school!  LOL!  If you buy your own slushie machine, you don’t have to worry, it will pay for itself in a few years!

Why I’m doing this

All I really wanted was something quick and cold for my kids to enjoy this summer.  What I found was that my husband and I love them too along with all our neighbors and friends!

Materials Needed

  • One Ninja Slushi Maker
  • Juice flavors of your choice (I used Hawaiian Punch and Lemonade for this slushie)

Variations/ Adaptations

  • Change up the juice you use:  You can use any type of juice or flavoring syrup you want.  I have some recipes I have tried here!
  • Blend fruit and strain:  You can actually make a blended fruit slushie if you blend the fruit in a blender first and then strain out any large pieces.
  • Juice your own fruit: Instead of using bottles of juice, try juicing your own fruit like grapes and oranges!
  • No Ninja Slushi Maker?  No problem!  In this other post I show you how to make a slushie in a blender!

  1.  Adjust the sugar and water levels according to how it is freezing based on the instructions on the side of the machine.

Other Uses for the Ninja Slushi Machine

After I bought this machine I found out that it can do much more than just make slushies!  It can also make things like frozen margaritas and daquiris, Frappe’s (which I haven’t tried yet!), and even Milkshakes (which I am going to try soon!

You could also have your kids set up a “Slushie Stand” and sell slushie’s using the plans for the slushie cart I built!

FAQs

What is the ratio for a Ninja Slushi Machine?

This depends on the consistency you want your slushie to be and what you intend to make.  I recommend starting off with 1 cup of flavor to 4 cups of water for a slush.  That way you can add more water if needed.

What are the 5 settings on the Ninja Slushi?

The Ninja Slushi settings are “Slush”, “Spiked Slush”, “Frappe”, “Milkshake”, and “Frozen Juice”.

Why is my Ninja Slushi not freezing?

You typically need to adjust the sugar content or the water content.  There are instructions on the side of your machine for this.  It could also be that you just have not let it churn and freeze long enough.

My Thoughts

Overall, everyone loves a good slushie, especially in the summer. You can use a blender to make slushies, but trust me when I say that the Ninja Slushi makes the process so much easier. I hope you give it a try!
