Ya’ll, let me tell you, if you are looking for something amazing to do with the family, then the Sight and Sound Theater in Lancaster, PA is the place to go! We saw their rendition of Noah and I was blown away at the way the story came to life on stage! My whole family had a great time and I can’t recommend it enough to my friends and family!
Sight and Sound Theater Lancaster
I’m so glad we FINALLY got a chance to make it to Sight & Sound! I have been trying to get to this show for years, but I always miss out on tickets before they sell out. And if you’re not familiar with what Sight and Sound theater is, let me tell you. It’s a theater located in a beutiful building in Lancaster, PA that brings bible stories to life on stage. The building holds around 2,000 people and the productions are beyond amazing. I’m talking detailed costumes, professional actors, real animals, and over the top sets.
The sets & props had me in complete awe. They are very detailed and really help make the show realistic. In Noah, my favorite scene had to be where the entire stage was filled with animal compartments to make the stage look like the inside of Noah’s Ark. And did I mention they use real animals! Even better, some of them even walk down the aisles, which my kids thought was the best thing ever.
* They don’t allow photography during the show so I wasn’t able to capture any images on my phone but here’s a shot from their website of my favorite scene!

Where to Sit
Now let’s talk about seats. When I went to purchase tickets, I did some research on the best places to sit. And really it depends on what experience you want. There honestly aren’t any “bad” seats because of how the theater is structured. But, if you want to experience being up close and personal with the actors and animals coming up the aisles, I’d suggest getting seats in the lower level closer to the aisle seats. Also, I’d suggest NOT sitting too close to the front either. You can see our view of the stage in the image below on the left.
We were in Section 102, Row K. And I’d say anywhere in Section 102 or 103 from Rows H-P are prime seats especially the aisle seats. If you prefer to be in the raised level, it’s an amazing view from there as well because you get to see all 3 stages at same time instead of having to turn your head to look from right to left when something was going on. You just don’t get to be up close and personal with the animals coming down the aisle.
Definitely all about preference.
I do love how their website has an option to show you a live view from each seat as well!
And in the image on the right, you can see that there is a lot of leg room, which is really nice especially for taller people with long legs.

Cost
Adults range from $79-99 and kids are $42 each.
Concessions
There is an entire concession area available for food and drinks throughout the show. They have things like nachos, hot dogs, and chips for food options. As for drinks, there are soda options, hot chocolate, and even cappuccino. There are also mini kiosks that have most of the same items and the lines are usually shorter.
The site mentions not being able to bring in outside food, but I did have some candy and chips in my purse for my daughter that I forgot to take out my bag and no one made me get rid of it.
Also, you can eat your food/snacks in the theater. I’ve been to some plays where you have to eat in the hallways because you can’t bring it in the theater.
Length of Show
The show was about 2.5 hours long with a 20 minute intermission. My children range from ages 4-11 and they were all fine in terms of their attention spans. They do have family areas you can take children who may get restless during the show and still be able to see the show.
The first half of show was longer than the second half. The second half after intermission, went fast.
Alternative Options
If you are not close to Lancaster, PA, there are a few other options you can check out to be able to experience Sight & Sound.
- If you are closer to the Banson, MO theater, then you could check out what they are showing. While we were seeing Noah in Lancaster, they had David running in Banson, so there is a different show at each location.
- Check out their streaming options if you are too far from either location. Then you can watch all of their plays and films from the comfort of your own couch.
- Talk to your church about putting together a group. I am sure there are probably discounted tickets at group pricing, plus, you could all get on a bus together to head to one of the theaters.
Trip Planning Tips
- This is a highly popular destination for large church groups and families, so if you plan to go I recommend buying tickets well in advance. I bought my tickets in January for a July show.
- Make sure you try the glazed almonds. We didn’t get around to trying the almonds, but they are known for them, so I recommend it if you remember. Plus even though we didn’t try them, they smelled amazing!
