DIY Holiday Table Settings from the Dollar Store

I love beautiful table settings especially for the holidays.  But there is no need to break the bank to get a fabulous look.  So I decided to hit up a few dollar stores to see what I could find.  If you aren’t a regular dollar store frequenter (I know thats not a real word lol), then you may turn your nose up and think “there’s no way I can get good stuff there”.  But think again sista…there’s tons of items you can purchase from your local dollar store and/or use things you already have to create an upscale look that would give Z Gallerie or Pottery Barn a run for their money.

LOOK #1:  Glitzy Pine Cone Setting

TOTAL COST FOR THIS LOOK: $6.00 per setting

Items Needed: Chargers, plates, wine glasses, acorns, and silverware (2 pk for $1) from the Dollar Tree. Gold spray paint, glitter, painters tape and Mod Podge.  You will also need napkins.  I already had some.

First thing you have to do is spray paint your chargers, glasses, pine cones, and silverware.  I love the look of gold for the holidays so I went with that but you are free to use silver or other colors as well.  Just be sure to spray paint your charger in whatever color glitter you plan to use.

Now you will add glitter around perimeter of charger using your Mod Podge as pictured:

Sit to the side to dry.  Now lightly spray paint your pine cones and sprinkle with glitter.

Next we will spray paint the bottom and stem of the glasses as well as the silverware.  Yup, you heard right… you are going to spray paint the silverware.  Remember, they are just for DECORATION.  Please be sure to switch them out when you are ready to eat on the table….please lol.

Tape off the area you don’t want painted then spray paint bottom & stem.

The gold stems transform this $1 glass sooo much, right!?  Now check out the silverware:

I so love gold flatware! Don’t you?

Okay now its time to style everything for our Glitzy Pine Cone setting. I also added a name card.  I printed it up on my computer.  If you have insanely neat handwriting, you can just write out your name cards.

I love this look because its classic and it pulls on all my love for glitter strings!

LOOK #2:  Red & Gold Setting

TOTAL COST FOR THIS LOOK: $6.50 per setting

Items Needed: Red chargers, plates, wine glasses, ornaments, and silverware (2 pk for $1) from the Dollar Tree. Gold spray paint (I like Rustoleum).  You will also need napkins or in this case, I used some red fabric I already had.  I like this look because the bow really adds dimension nicely.

LOOK #3:  Bow Pretty Setting

TOTAL COST FOR THIS LOOK: $5.50 per setting

Items Needed: Chargers, plates, wine glasses, napkin, and silverware (2 pk for $1) from the Dollar Tree. Gold spray paint (I like Rustoleum).  You will also need some strands of rhinestones or ribbon. I had tons of leftover rhinestones from my wedding so I just used those.

The focal point of this setting is the napkin in the shape of a bow.  If you are wondering how to make the bow, see below. After you create the bow, you wrap your ribbon or rhinestones around it and secure with hot glue. I even added some rhinestones around the stem of the glass too.

I like this look because its ultra girly!

LOOK #4:  Christmas Ornament Setting

TOTAL COST FOR THIS LOOK: $5.75 per setting

Items Needed: Chargers, plates, wine glasses, napkins, flat ornaments, and silverware (2 pk for $1) from the Dollar Tree. Gold spray paint (I like Rustoleum).  I printed names on paper for this look and wrapped it around a Christmas tree ornament. Also, I purchased a 5 pack of these ornaments from The Dollar Tree but the gold was different than my spray painted gold so I sprayed the ornaments gold too to match.  I used my glitter charger (see instructions above) for this look as well.

Hopefully these looks inspire you to create fabulous inexpensive table settings this holiday season!

xoxo
